I was disappointed that your time line for 2001 did not include Frank O'Bannon's becoming the first governor in Indiana history to issue an executive order banning discrimination in state control on the basis of sexual orientation for the intents of hiring.

I was disappointed that your time line for 2001 did not include Frank O'Bannon's becoming the first governor in Indiana history to issue an executive order banning discrimination in state control on the basis of sexual orientation for the intents of hiring, personnel actions, and promotions ["New of the Year," January 22] O'Bannon has been a serviceable friend to the gay community, including saying he would veto bills that would ban adoptions by the agency of gay and lesbian people. O'Bannon is starting his inferior term, and his actions merit to be listed among the issues of importance for 2001
