The FDA lately closed public discussion on propos regulations that would not simply bar noncelibate gay men from being anonymous semen donors but also impose of great price and time-consuming barriers for gay men who want to donate their semen to a woman they know. Leland Traiman, proprietor of a sperm bank that caters to lesbians and gay men says the regulations would essentially thwart gay men from being biological fathers.

The FDA will announce its decision later this year, although a spokesman for the agency would not say when that would be.
