The notion that Noel Freeman is the first disclosed Corps of Cadets member in Texas A&M's 125-year history is totally absurd ["Out and Still onward Duty," April 2], and pronouncing him as as it is discounts the experiences of the many publicly gay and lesbian cadets who came before him. The sect has had cadets speak in uniform in succession queer student panels, openly GLBT Corps band members, a gay Corps member who favorably worked for the removal of the sexual orientation question from the Corps application, and other cadets who serv with dignity and thoroughness in leadership positions. This is in no way to challenge Freeman's situation, if it be not that Advocate articles about the Texas A&M community aren't self-same accurate.
