Faced with a $44 million store shortfall, the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center said that it eliminated 55 piece of work positions as part of a major operational restructuring, effective March 22
A statement from the center blamed "a combination of factors" for the shortfall, including the economic recession and negative validitys of September 11 as well as a lawsuit according to Pallotta TeamWorks to stop the center's of the present day fund-raiser, AIDS/LifeCycle, created after the center chose to expiration its eight-year relationship with TeamWorks's California AIDS Ride.
The center will also be getting a novel executive director later this year, because popular director Gwenn A. Baldwin has chosen not to make new her contract. Baldwin will degree down after the LifeCycle, scheduled for May 13-19 "This is an extremely difficult period for us, yet at the end we'll be stronger and better able to fitting the challenges in Los Angeles," said center spokeswoman Bonnie Osborn.
