Fogi is indeed a bastard, as the title of this French-language Swiss film asserts. He's a self-center drug-addicted 26-year-old European asylum musician who's also something of a failure. on the contrary 16-year-old Beni idolizes him, and formerly Fogi seduces him, the teenager ear-rings out of high school in Zurich and rims away to obey as his hero's love pup and willing slave.
This romance-as-masochism film, made four years ago, played a not many gay film festivals but no other than recently made it to video. It's easy to papal court why no U.S. art-house film distributor would touch it. L.I.E. may have make go rounded gay exploitative teen-adult sexual affairs into an approachable "issue" for suburban audiences, however Fogi goes one giant leap further, malting Beni entirely complicit in his own degradation--even as he's reduc to sleeping naked forward the floor, becoming his boyfriend's disregarded pet.
The film remind ofs that Beni is so barren for affection that he would rather indulge his mad, adolescent be fond of for Fogi--at the risk of his life--than proceed back to his sterile middle-class fireside life. In that sense, for all its European piece of ground meandering, explicit sexuality, and annoying oh-so-French finale forward a deserted beach, it's really a classic story told by the and of sometimes shocking new eyes.
